This crystal bird with flower wall art pairs two flying cranes with pink plum blossoms against a soft rose gradient. Mother-of-pearl shell and sculpted resin details add iridescence and depth.
Mother-of-Pearl Cranes and Plum Blossoms in Raised Relief
A Blush Ground for the Crane Scene
The design begins with an aluminum or MDF support board. A canvas-textured primer and hand-painted acrylic create a muted blush-pink gradient. This calm ground lets the plum branches, blossoms, and cranes remain the visual focus.
Layered Shell and Sculpted Branches
Natural mother-of-pearl shell is cut into crane feathers and plum petals, then layered by hand. The petals are dyed while retaining the shell’s iridescent sheen. Epoxy resin shapes the branches, and oil pigments add bark color and surface detail. Crystals by Swarovski® trace selected feather edges and petal contours, catching the light in fine points. A dedicated craft adhesive secures each element. A matte or soft-sheen clear coat helps protect the surface from dust and moisture. A metal frame gives the composition a clean, defined edge.
This design’s plum blossoms are inspired by Prunus mume. NC State Extension’s flowering plum profile describes its pink flowers and cultural significance in China. The shell and resin details also create a dimensional surface. Explore Wallartura’s Other Material Paintings collection for more designs using varied materials.
A Focal Point for Refined Interiors
The plum-and-crane motif makes this a contemporary take on New Chinese style wall art. Its sculpted surface adds depth, while the blush palette suits modern rooms. As luxury wall art, it can anchor a living room, entryway, or bedroom.
For luxury interior design, use soft or directional lighting to reveal the shell’s changing sheen and the branches’ relief. Cream, warm white, muted taupe, and natural wood create a quiet setting for its color and detail. This crystal wall art keeps sparkle focused on the feathers and blossoms.
